Our Pre-school offers a stimulating environment for children to be able to expand their ever growing skills, imagination and learning giving them a head start for their transition into school. Here at Mini Explorers we provide a range of opportunities to develop fine motor skills, preparing them for writing and using scissors, a large outdoor area to explore and investigate, whether this is making mud pies in our mud kitchen, looking for insects, practicing bike skills on our balance bikes or using the climbing equipment.

Tiny Mite’s music and movement, yoga, and French lessons offer great opportunities for social interaction, and has huge benefits towards children’s self-confidence. Music and movement sessions allow children to express themselves in different ways and our children just love any opportunity to sing! Yoga sessions help teach our children the importance of keeping themselves healthy through exercise. Our French lessons prove to be highly popular with the children and after just a few sessions we find the children are starting to use numbers, words and phrases that they have learnt through a range of songs and games. Learning a language at a young age increases children’s critical thinking and flexibility and studies show children take in new sounds and adopting pronunciation as they are less self-conscience when trying to say these.

Promoting ‘School Readiness’ is very important to us and we actively encourage and support independence by allowing children to have choices in activities, toileting, dressing themselves (putting on own coats and shoes), self-serving and pouring drinks at mealtimes and going out into the community to buy resources for their activities and ‘real life’ produce such as fruit and vegetables for their roleplay area or snack time.

We work closely with all local schools ensuring that transitions into school are made as smooth as possible for children and their families. We invite teachers in to meet children at Mini Explorers so they can see the children in an environment they are comfortable and secure in.
